Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVE ALBUQUERQUEWelcome to the Southwest! Your tour director will meet you at the Albuquerque airport, first stop is the fascinating Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Late this afternoon we'll check in to our hotel. After our trip orientation "get-together," we'll enjoy a unique Southwestern "welcome" dining experience. Day 2: BALLOON FIESTAThis morning we'll get up early for this morning's "Mass Ascension," at the world-renowned Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Next, we'll embark on a guided tour of the city. We'll also appreciate a stop for lunch and browsing through the many shops surrounding Old Town Plaza. This afternoon we'll have time to relax during a "break" at our hotel, then, returning to the Fiesta, we'll attend this evening's "Balloon Glow" event. DAY 3: SANTA FEFirst on today's itinerary is a ride on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway to the mountain's 10,378-foot summit. Next we set our sights for Santa Fe where we'll take a guided walking and motorcoach tour of this historic city. We'll spend two nights in Santa Fe, and dine this evening at the Blue Corn Cafe, a local favorite. DAY 4: SANTA FEToday is at your leisure in Santa Fe to allow ample time for browsing in the extensive array of downtown shops, galleries and museums. Tonight you're sure to appreciate our fun-filled, surprise Santa Fe "Dinner Quest." DAY 5: SANTA FE - TAOSThe morning is at leisure in Santa Fe. Resuming our journey after lunch, we follow the "High Road to Taos." This afternoon we'll visit the Millicent Rogers Museum and the age-old Taos Pueblo. Enjoy dinner this evening amid the eclectic Southwestern decor of Taos. DAY 6: CUMBRES & TOLTEC SCENIC RAILROADWe head north this morning to board the comfortable coaches of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, for an extraordinary full-day trip between Antonito, Colorado, and Chama, New Mexico. Lunch is served at Osier Station mid-day. Returning to Taos, our "farewell" evening features dinner and an exhibition of traditional Native American dances. DAY 7: HOMEMorning transfers to the airport have been arranged.
